VeGas is a vacuum degassing system for removing oxygen from liquids. The product is degassed in an evacuated container – with a large exchange surface area and long contact time between the product and the vacuum. The O₂ content of the degassed product is continuously monitored; for this purpose, VeGas is equipped with a high-precision optical OXYTRANS sensor from Centec.

 What the plant does
 
 
 
 Removes oxygen from liquids via vacuum degassing
 
 
 Stabilizes product quality (e.g., taste stability ) and supports a longer product lifespan.
 
 
 Permanent O₂ process control via optical OXYTRANS sensor
 
 

 
 Measuring principle (vacuum degassing)
 
 
 
 A specifically designed injection nozzle continuously sprays the product as small droplets into an evacuated container .
 
 
 Many very small droplets increase the exchange surface area and contact time – this allows oxygen to pass from the product into the vacuum.
 
 
 The removed oxygen is pumped out of the container using a vacuum pump .
 
 
 To increase performance, a stripping gas such as carbon dioxide or nitrogen can (optionally) be added to the container.
 
 
 The degassed product collects at the bottom of the container and is removed for further processing.
 
 
 Optionally, the product can also be cooled, disinfected with UV light , or carbonated .
