Blender - High Gravity Blending
The blender is a processing unit for high-gravity blending (HGB) . In this process, high-gravity beer is selectively mixed with degassed water to achieve the desired final original gravity and/or alcohol content . If the blending is carried out directly before the BBTs ( Batch Brewers) or even before the filler , production flexibility increases significantly: several beers (brands) can be produced from the same base beer .
Application
High Gravity Blending (HGB) is a process that makes it possible to produce different beers (brands) from one or a few mother beers. This increases the brewery's productivity with a comparatively small brewhouse capacity and a small number of fermentation tanks.
This is how the blender works in the process
High Gravity wort is produced with a high extract content.
During fermentation, this results in a beer with a higher original gravity and alcohol content.
Later, this high-gravity beer is mixed with degassed water until the desired final value is reached.
Flow rates , original gravity and alcohol content are constantly monitored and automatically adjusted via a ratio control system .
For this purpose, the system is equipped with high-precision flow meters and inline sensors from Centec.
Centec has decades of experience in the development and manufacture of its own precision instruments for alcohol control based on density and sound velocity measurement .
Optional equipment (depending on the version / project-specific)
Optional vortex-Venturi injector for combined CO₂ injection into the product
Systems that combine high-gravity blending and carbonation in a single step are available as CarboBlenders.
