CARBOTEC TR-PT - CO₂ (Pressure-Temperature)

CARBOTEC TR-PT is a CO₂ sensor for the continuous measurement of dissolved carbon dioxide in liquids. The instrument is designed for applications requiring maximum sensitivity and the highest accuracy – while remaining easy to use and maintain.

CARBOTEC TR-PT is a highly accurate carbon dioxide sensor for measuring CO₂ in:

Beer
Beer-based mixed drinks

Dissolved CO₂ has a significant influence on product quality and taste – stable inline monitoring supports reproducible results in the process.

Measurement principle (pressure / temperature)

For measurement, the carbonated liquid flows through the sensor head (measuring chamber) :

Several times per minute the chamber closes and its volume increases abruptly.
This expansion creates a gas phase in the chamber.
The large partial pressure difference drives CO₂ from the liquid into the gas phase.
This principle is described by Henry's Law .
Within seconds, a pressure equilibrium is established in the measuring chamber.
This equilibrium pressure depends on the CO₂ content of the sample.
The CO₂ content is determined by measuring pressure and temperature in the chamber.
Temperature drifts are automatically compensated by an internal Pt100 sensor .
After each measurement, the sample is returned to the product without any loss.
