Description:
 Based on the use of highly efficient membrane modules, exceptionally low residual oxygen levels are achieved. Each module contains thousands of hydrophobic, gas-permeable hollow fiber membranes, resulting in a large surface area. This large internal surface area of the modules maximizes the exchange area and contact time between water and gas. While the stripping gas (CO2 or N2) is applied to the inside of the hollow fibers, the water flows countercurrently between them on the outside. The large partial pressure difference of O2 drives the oxygen out of the water through the gas-permeable membranes. The oxygen flows out of the membranes along with the stripping gas. This fundamental scientific principle is described by Henry's Law. The DGS system requires minimal energy and stripping gas. Due to its modular design, the system can be easily adapted to the required capacity (by arranging membranes in parallel) and to the required residual oxygen content (by arranging membranes in series). The O2 content of the degassed water is continuously monitored. For this purpose, the system is equipped with a high-precision optical OXYTRANS sensor from Centec. Centec has decades of experience in developing and manufacturing its own precision instruments for O2 control. The virtually oxygen-free water can optionally be cooled, disinfected with UV light, or carbonated for further use. Hollow fiber membranes are sensitive to particles in the water. Therefore, Centec membrane degassing systems include special pre-filters.
