REVOTEC - Reverse Osmosis
REVOTEC is a reverse osmosis system (RO). It uses a semipermeable membrane that allows water (H₂O) to pass while retaining dissolved ions (salts), suspended solids, bacteria, and larger molecules. In the system, the natural process of osmosis is reversed: by applying pressure to the contaminated water, purified water (permeate) is forced through the membrane.
Application
The REVOTEC reverse osmosis system produces demineralized water that is ideally suited for the production of:
- beer
- beer-mixed beverages
Role in the process
- Produces demineralized water (permeate)
- Membrane separation process: H₂O passes through, impurities remain on the concentrate side
- Cross-flow operation: the concentrate is removed quickly, reducing fouling on the membrane elements
Why cross-flow matters in operation
- Rapid removal of the concentrate minimizes fouling on the membrane elements
- Stable operation through monitoring of fouling and scaling (depending on version)
Pretreatment & Blending (depending on raw water / system design)
Depending on the contamination of the raw water, pretreatment may be required in order to:
- avoid deposits
- reduce chemical stress caused by oxidizing agents such as chlorine
To achieve the desired water quality precisely and to increase capacity, the following is possible:
- blending of permeate and raw water (depending on system design)
