COMBITEC - Concentration Analysis
COMBITEC is an inline instrument for concentration measurement in 3-component systems. It combines the functionality of RHOTEC (density measurement) and SONATEC (sound velocity measurement) in one compact device. It is designed for applications requiring high sensitivity and high measurement accuracy while remaining straightforward to operate and designed for low maintenance.
Application
COMBITEC is used for 3-component systems to simultaneously measure density, sound velocity, and concentration, for example in:
- Mixtures of acid and salt in water
- Systems such as sulfuric acid / oleum
- Systems such as methanol / formaldehyde
What does COMBITEC measure?
COMBITEC can display simultaneously:
- Density of the liquid
- Sound velocity
- Concentration of the solution (in various units)
Measurement Principle – How the Combination Works
1) Density Measurement (RHOTEC principle)
- The medium flows through a thin, U-shaped tube inside the sensor.
- Electromagnets excite the tube to oscillate at its resonance frequency.
- An internal reference oscillator measures the oscillation behavior.
- Even the smallest density changes influence the signal and are detected with high precision.
2) Sound Velocity (SONATEC principle)
- A piezo element generates a sound pulse in the ultrasonic transmitter.
- The pulse travels perpendicular to the product flow to the ultrasonic receiver, where it is detected.
- Based on the known distance between transmitter and receiver and the measured transit time, the sound velocity is determined.
3) Concentration Evaluation
- The relationship between concentration and density or sound velocity is described by a mathematical polynomial.
- Centec has decades of experience and its own laboratory facilities, and uses polynomials for a large number of products.
Temperature Compensation
Temperature drift of the measurement signal is automatically compensated by an internal Pt1000 sensor.
Highlights
- High-precision measurement technology for determining density, sound velocity, and concentration
- Patented, compact design; local display available (depending on version)
- Wide range of materials and flange connections
- Hygienic design and full CIP capability
- Straightforward to operate and designed for low maintenance
